Waitrose runs out of Pasta

Have you been to Waitrose lately and seen a picture like this?

Well this is due to a row between the supermarket group and its supplier in Italy over “quality issues”.

Its supplier in Italy makes all of its own-brand dried pasta and because there has been no stock for three weeks, other brands have also run short. Of the 75 varieties of dried pasta that the supermarket sells, 40 are Waitrose-branded.

Sources within the pasta industry claim the supplier had been demanding higher prices because of soaring global wheat prices. When Waitrose refused to bow to their demands, the Italian manufacturing stopped supplying them.

Cuba lifts home PC ban

The first Legal computers have gone on sale in Cuba. The Computers cost £400 where the average wage in about £10 a month, most cubans have access to extra income such as relatives abroad.

Internet access is still however restricted to workplaces, schools and universitys, using expenisve satellite connections which is caused by the US trade embargo not allowing access to the undersea fibre cables.

What would you do with / without the Internet ?

At lunch today we all got in the car to go to town. Upon returning to my car, it decided to rain.. Heavily… So I start to run to my car, which is a faint object obscured by the rain bouncing in my face. I get to the car, put the key in the lock and it does not turn.

The locks have been playing up on the car anyway, so I try again until I notice a baby seat in the back of the car. I stop and take a second look only to find that its not my car, not only that the owner of the car is running towards me.

We all do stupid things right ? Please is it only me ? :-S

Whilst taking the boring drive to work this morning, I had to chuckle when I saw that someone had set fire to one of the speed Cameras between Luton and Harpenden on the Lower Luton road.

I am not against speed cameras dont get me wrong, but it did brighten up my day even though I could not see the fluorescent yellow paint due to the fire.

The Death of our office

The week has finally come and all the desks are being moved in our office, as we wind down to close on Friday.

There is random desks in the middle of the floor in the office, and where there used to be rows of staff there is now empty space. Its a little sad as I have been working here for the past 3 years.

Well finally someone has actually responded, and we are now migrating the server tomorrow morning. Its amazing how fast things can get done, this is a record for this place!

Super Mario 2

After weeks of wanting a NES to re live my youth, I decided to download Super Mario 2 for the Wii. I think that Super Mario is much better. Then again I have not given it enough time, so I will post again to let you know what I really think.

All I know is I really want a NES, so if anyone wants to give me one I would be happy

After a discussion that happened over 2 months ago, I decided to see if anyone had listened to me.

Here is an excerpt of that discussion. ” The server will be removed at the end of April. If you dont copy it you will be stuck”

So we decided that we would take it offline to see what happened. Sure enough the phone started ringing and the guy on the other end in a panic. So I said , “Oh its not working? is there any error messages ?”.

Anyway we have told them again that they need to copy it etc etc, but we dont believe that they will take this seriously so we have ‘de-optimised’ apache to run like a dog to get them thinking.
